Daring to Love, with a Twist of Lime

I'm on day 18 of the Love Dare, which DH knows full well I've taken on. I told him in light of the recent Wall Street activities, I thought he could use some extra loving. So when he got home from work tonight, we discussed whether to go to a movie or not. We've been to a movie the past three weekends and two of the three were duds or worse. So I told him I went online and looked at the reviews and unless we'd like to see people being sawed in half in celebration of Halloween, or some Bush Bashing, there's really nothing out there worth $9.50 a piece although the popcorn is tempting.

Would he like to take me to our favorite mexican dive for chips and salsa and a margarita on the rocks with salt, and they might also happen to serve food? He told me that sounded dandy, changed out of his semi-classy work clothes into jeans because this is not a classy place by any stretch of the imagination. The fact that after twelve years it's my absolute favorite restaurant probably says something, but I'm not going to think about that tonight. Especially after a margarita, or two.

As we sat at the table, with the sole decoration being a green checked plastic tablecloth, I told him, "I'm on day eighteen of the Love Dare, which is to make you a special dinner. Do you think this can count as 'special'?"

He told me, "Absolutely, as long as you're here, it's special enough for me."

That my friends is why I married the man, and why daring to love him is so danged wonderful. Who cares about the stock market, or the economy or who gets elected? We've got the important bases covered and I'll fall asleep tonight, knowing how blessed I am.

Sounds like a good way to spend an evening to me, and I'm not much on movies anyway.

Hope the rest of your weekend is good too, Bev.

Aww, that is so sweet. I love seeing happy couples who've weathered the storms of the years, such a rarity these days.

And I didn't mean that to say that you're old! ;-Þ

What I meant to say (deleted above) is that is the best thing I have read in a while. It is just some down to earth truth. Back to the basics and glad for it! Good for you guys!

I have a hunch there's some dandy reasons that he married you, to, my friend.

Bless you for sharing this tribute to him and for encouraging us all on the marital journey of margaritas and bliss. :)

Hope you enjoyed the margaritas, 'cause I know you enjoyed the "special dinner" with your husband.
