I Have A New, Big Ole Crush.....

On this person, who happens to be a woman...

Now, don't be weirded out. (And if you're not, then please just don't tell me that either.) If you go here, you'll absolutely fall in love with her too. I promise. You may already know her, but if you don't, you HAVE to meet her: THE PIONEER WOMAN (i.e. Cooking Goddess.) You're going to want to read every sassy thing she's ever written, then move out to the country and buy some cows so you can cook all the wonderful food she cooks, redecorate your house to be just like hers, then somehow get her to invite you to her place for a stay, and become her new BFF. (It'd be an okay bonus if I ended up looking a little like her too, although my DH isn't real partial to red hair, but I bet he'd say the rest of her is okay.)

Look what I baked, after a visit to her website!

Her 'no-knead dinner rolls' (or something like that). We made sure and smeared a lot of butter on them, in keeping with the oh-so-healthy theme. My oh my, they were wonderful!

My sister and I used to have a big ole crush on Princess Diana, back when she had that cute little bowl haircut and didn't wear slips under her dresses, before she married boring Prince Charles. Sadly, Diana's gone (and for the record I doubt she ever boiled water in that castle of hers) and we've moved on. Reading Ree Drummond's blog, DH and I may put on a few pounds, but we'll sure die happy! If you'd like to gain weight right along with me, I've added a link to her on my sidebar. She's just written a cookbook, due to come out in the spring or summer of 2009 and guess what I want for Mother's Day? Guess what I'm giving my daughters and DIL, so our entire family can all be fat and happy together?

Huge girl crush here too! I have made her lasagna, her bread pudding, her French breakfast puffs, and a couple others I can't remember right now. However, I fell in love most of all when I read her romance entries with Marboro Man.

Girl crushes are fine in my book. It just means they have traits, talents and creativity that we admire.

For the record, you are one of my crushes "one I admire" too.

I have been reading Ree's blogs now for going on two years. I don't miss a day of it!

Ree lives a few hours north of where I live. It is beautiful country.

By the way, I like your new blog. I always lurked on your other one after discovering it on Sarah's blog after Addison was born.

Happy cooking and eating!

I've been a terrible guest to Ree. Only been there a couple of times, but I gotta tell you. Luuurrved every visit. THanks for the reminder about her great eats/pics/and pioneer goodness.

I discovered Ree a couple of years ago too. Amazing that she cooks like that and continues to look the way she does. I can't wait to get my hands on her cookbook!

I'll never forget how stunned I was the day I turned on the news and saw that Diana had died in a car crash. Sad, sad. I was obsessed with her for years and years, as you know. Wonder what she'd be like today, if she were still alive.

I'm with you, Bev! Her pictures make me desperate to move to the country (although the before sunrise wake up calls bring me back to reality!!), and I haven't tried a recipe that I didn't love.

And when she shares anecdotes about her brother, I laugh until I cry!

I am going over to check her out (so to speak of course). I love a lady with enough confidence to get down to basics. Butter being one of them.

Why do we have to think about everything we eat when we get to be 50? I never did that at 20. NEVER!

She's been a favorite of mine for some time. I want her life -- cows, country, manure and all.

I've been reading Pioneer Woman for a long time - and I've tried many of her recipes - and totally loved every single one. Except I don't think she has a single recipe that doesn't use two sticks of butter!
I don't know how she stays so small.

I've been reading Ree's blog for about a year or so, and have cooked several of her recipes, all with great success.

If you haven't yet read her Black Heels to Tractor Wheels love story of how she and Marlboro Man got hitched, then pop yourself a bag of corn and head on over there, 'cause you're in for a romantic treat! ;-)

I didn't know her book was out that soon. I love reading about her kids and ranch life and of course her photos. Writing, cooking, photography. How can one person be so darn talented is beyond me.

I loved the princess too. I cried when she died...and still get teery eyed on her documentaries...
