'Happy Birthday to you....

You live in a zoo' - well, actually she does sort of. (I mean, seriously, she has two dogs, a hamster, four goats and now 18 or so chickens - that qualifies as a zoo!) And she seems to like it that way!

Sarah's having a birthday today, so maybe you can stop over and wish her a happy one. She's been a joy from the first moment I met her, excepting a period of maybe five years during the teens, and since then she's more than made up for those.

I told her recently, when she was about fifteen years old, I was confident she'd grow up and be an attorney or doctor, or maybe an English professor. Shows you what Moms know - she grew up to do something really fabulous - be a wife and mother to the very best of her ability.

I'm probably not real objective, but I do believe she just gets lovelier all the time...

Happy Birthday Sweet SarBear.

P.S. Please note I did not say which birthday. That might qualify me for diplomat status...

I met her when she was just a couple of hours old too. You're right...she becomes more beautiful with each passing year, inside and out. xoxo

Ha! THIRTY-THREE! I can say it without cringing at all :)

Thank you for this! What a fun surprise to see this morning!

And no, the prodigal chick hasn't been found yet. We're mystified!

Wished her a happy birthday, and am now back to congratulate you on raising a daughter who, at 33 (she said it!) is someone you (clearly)genuinely like.

My greatest desires for my daughters are that they love the Lord, first and foremost, and that they will grow up to be women who delight me with the same joy they fill my heart with now as young girls. As hard as it is to see them grow up, you are a great example of enjoying your kids at every stage, and that's one of the things I love about your blog... you encourage me to look forward to the future, instead of dreading the day they will fly off on their own. (Even though at 10 and 11 I, thankfully, still have awhile to go!)

So all that to say, enjoy the day, too... as you so obviously know, getting to be the Mom is a gift to celebrate, too!

Any words of advice for us raising teenage girls? Mine will be 15 in June and most days I feel caught between counting the days until she has graduated H.S. and homework and grades will no longer be a daily battle and wanting to stop time and enjoy the young woman she is becoming. I know one day I will make the transition from parent to friend, however some days I wonder how we are going to survive until then.

It's hard to believe when we're living through those angst-filled teen years that some day they will grow up to be our very best friends. But do they ever. She is just lovely, Bev, inside and out.
