Spring's Version of Snow

Our family in Colorado has been getting pummeled with snow lately, not that unusual for them. Here in Pittsburgh God must agree that by the end of March we've just flat had it with snow and it magically stops. Usually.

Here's what we have going on instead.

'Snow showers' of tiny white blossoms falling down from the Bradford Pear.

Tickles my heart that we planted it about ten years ago, get to enjoy it for one more season.

And we don't have to shovel the results.

Just enjoy them til they float away in the air.

To me, flowering trees are even prettier than flowering flowers. We used to have a crabapple tree in our backyard growing up in the midwest. It was so pretty when it blossomed.

Now we pretty much celebrate the crepe myrtle.

Lovely "snow". And much more pleasant to deal with.

What a gorgeous tree - look at the size of that trunk! You're right - that kind of "snow" is a lot better than the other kind. My snow is pink - crabapple pink. :-)

I sneeze in response to this lovely post. But I agree. They are lovely. We have tons of pink, white, and purple blossoms on trees right now. And I love to see the wind blowing the petals.

So beautiful, Bev! Reminds me of the flowering crab apples trees we have here.

Ours finished blooming and shed their petals weeks ago, but I did enjoy seeing them in bloom. They're also gorgeous in the fall, when they turn a brilliant auburn red.
