Walk in door. Do not open mail, do not listen to messages on answering machine. Do not check emails. If you have pets or children or husbands, all standing around needing you, try to avoid them.
Go to cupboard and pull out one cake mix, read directions, throw it together. While it's baking do not go weak and do any of the before mentioned items. Have a glass of wine, or flip through some mindless magazine. If necessary, hide in bedroom while doing so. When cake is done, don't wait too long for it to cool. Or you can go soak in the tub while it cools - your choice.
Throw some tub frosting on it, not worrying much about looks. This is not a State Fair entry. It's for medicinal purposes.
Grab a plate, and a fork, cut a BIG slice, and dive in.
My medicine of choice was red velvet with cream cheese frosting, but I'm confident german chocolate would have worked its magic too.
My version of 'take two' - combine slice of cake with magazine or wine. Your call. You probably won't overdose if you go for all three.

Oh, I must try that...yesterday I just locked myself in my room and didn't come out til I WANTED to...it was a lovely feeling....but maybe next time I'll try the cake!
Thank you, Dr. Bev. I'm ever so grateful.
I might "get a headache" anyway, just to have the time off . :)
Hope you're feeling tip top now. xxxooogjh
Oh my goodness that is gorgeous!
I myself only eat chocolate. But still ... that is gorgeous.
And you have Pfalzgraff dishes. Just like I used to have. Until we moved to this house and had a Maytag dishwasher that could not handle them. I replaced them all. Then just quit using the dishwasher, discovering that it was not the dishes that the Maytag couldn't handle. It was the washing of anything. Sigh.
What a pretty picture. I am drooling over it and I don't even like red cake.
2nd remedy: Move to Texas. Sip sweet tea on your back porch while eating red velvet cake and chatting with your daughter--in person, not on the phone.
:)
I totally get this, Bev. We came in the door a few hours ago from a week at the beach with my entire family. I went straight to the pantry and pulled out the brownie mix and had it whipped up and in the oven before the van was unpacked. Eric thought is was so weird and I thought it was BRILLIANT!
Sounds perfect to me - but I'm going to opt for a dose of Chocolate Devil's Food cake with chocolate icing. Really!!
I like your prescriptions!
Yum that cake looks just like this one a good cure for a headache.
My three favorite words: for medicinal purposes.
At this moment, I'm loading up on Vitamin M (m&m's) for medicinal purposes. Glad your headache's gone!
