Gloriously Out of the Loop

When you read this I'll be on my last day of a visit to see my Dad in Kansas, after taking a little road trip with my baby brother, Derrell. We've never taken a road trip so this should be loads of fun. Dad and Derrell are going to play golf and I'm going to watch because the last time I 'played golf' took over four hours for 9 holes, so I watch.

Then I'm heading to my Mom's in the Denver area. We'll go out to eat with my brother Gary, hopefully eat guacamole somewhere while we talk and solve all the problems of the world, go to church together, then get up Monday, September 14 to drive to my sister, Barb's place in Grand Junction.

While we're driving across the mountains, we plan to play Bruce Springsteen in the car while we sing loudly off key, stop in Vail for an ice cream cone or something like that, then spend three days with Barb and Rob, and Krissy's family, some we haven't even met yet (Avery!).

Plans there include lunch at some place Barb and Rob love, hopefully a game or two of Scrabble with someone, more fattening food, late night talks, and anything else we can cram in, which will hopefully include Barb cooking a meal for us (she's a G.O.O.D. cook) and hearing Rob's funny sense of humor. I hear we girls may get to sneak away for a date - just the four of us.

Then we'll head back to the Denver area, where I'm meeting my two best friends from high school for margaritas and dinner. I haven't seen Susan in 30 years, and Tracie in a good 10 or more, so that's bound to be fun and loud and full of memories.

One more night with my Mom, then I pick up Don at the Denver airport before we head north to the tip of Colorado to spend time with his brother and sister-in-law, and also see my other niece, Mandy and Aaron and their two new dogs.

Then we'll fly home and collapse.

For a whole month before I leave for Texas.

So I'll be out of the loop for awhile, gloriously so. But there should be wonderful stuff to share with you when I land back in PA. Family, friends, fattening food - that's what it's all about!

I knew you'd be arriving at Barb's yesterday and I have been praying for all of our travels and visiting. I hope you are having a grand time, making new memories and remembering old. REMEMBORIES is what we have always called it at our house.

Have fun! Tell us all about it when you return!
