Patchwork Pin Cushions Aplenty!

Last Minute Patchwork Gifts - by Joelle Hoverson (owner of Purl SoHo) is a great book! I was so tickled that the local bookstore had one copy on the shelf and I was able to grab it.

My daughter, Sarah gave me a patchwork pin cushion, whipped up using their pattern, a year or so ago and it just makes me happy to have it sitting next to my sewing machine. You can't see it in the photo - I think it's hiding behind my machine.

I love that those little pieces of fabric turn into these happy little circles. I added poly pellets to the bottom of each cushion to give it some weight. I think it'll make them sit more nicely.

They are supposed to take two to four hours each, but when you make them in steps you can whip up four or five in that amount of time! After making about eight of them I'm ready to move onto another project, but they will be such sweet gifts for my Saturday Stitchers when we meet this weekend for the last time. I also made one as a gift to a woman who was gracious to lend us her machine for a solid two months.

I think Joelle would agree an antique button in the middle is a nice touch.

Oh Bev, I wish I were there so you could teach me to sew!! I L.O.V.E. these & those Mama Bags on your last post! When you get all settled in your Lake Home next year, I will have to spend a creative week with you learning how to make these & then we could scrapbook. Between all of that & catching up on the last 36+ years, we could keep quite busy!

Those are adorable, and a perfect little love gift for you Stitchers. Every sewist needs a nice pin cushion. I won a tiny one last summer and I just love it. Something just for me :)

I'll have to add that book to my list too.

Adorable! I've contemplated making myself another pin cushion, but my last attempt (a cupcake) didn't turn out so hot. Maybe next time I'll opt for something a little bigger and more manageable!

Darling with a capital D. I'm so glad for your Saturday Stitchers! Think of the legacy you're building, Bev, when they teach someone to sew!
