James 4:13-15 and one Heck of a Snow Storm

Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."

We thought we had all sorts of plans today. See that line at the top of the photo. That's the interstate, with N.O. C.A.R.S. on it.

That is a measly ruler - 12" of ruler isn't going to touch this.

After snowing for 24  hours we ended up with 18" of snow. That's a lot of snow.

It IS beautiful. Looks like a winter wonderland out there.

Someone in our family thought they were going to work today.....

and since that certain someone had rotator cuff surgery this past week, guess who's the chauffeur? (For a month but I'm not complaining. I am thinking, just a bit, "What the heck, I already retired! I sleep in every morning! Obviously God isn't done with me yet.)

After shoveling for a good hour I got the car uncovered to see that our hill had not been touched. Even a chauffeur has her limits. No way, Jose. We're not going anywhere. Putting a pot roast in the crockpot and staying inside. Sometimes it's good to be reminded Who is in charge!

Looks beautiful!

Have fun staying in and snugglin' and drinkin' hot chocolate (or your beverage of choice).

I'd be hunkering down and just enjoying the excuse to do so :o)

The snow is soooo beautiful - but I guess it can definitely change your plans! I live just a little too far south to enjoy a winter wonderland. But I do love to curl up under a homemade quilt in front of the fireplace on cold days like today.

Don't you think God just smiles and shakes His head at us and our just-got-to-do-this plans?!

I think it is a great idea that the "patient" has a day off anyway. And you are not alone of course. Most of the mid-Atlantic states are snowed in ... and most of them will not be eating pot roast for dinner.

Enjoy! Get out the knitting needles. You can have an afghan done by the time they dig you out :)

I totally agree with Becky - get out the knitting needles. And Don shouldn't be going to work anyway, just out of surgery a few days ago. So in this case I think God knew exactly what He was doing. Make that man sit down and take it easy!

That picture of you shoveling is as cute as it can be and I cannot tell you how glad I am that wasn't me! xoxo

Oh I remember being hip deep in snow Bev! It really has a way of slowing life down and providing a wonderful excuse to stay home and relax!

It does look beautiful. But I definitely vote for the "stay home, put roast in crock pot" idea. Add some nice coffee or tea and a good book or knitting!

It sure is beautiful! I got 19 inches in Mechanicsburg, PA, but some places further south, like my parents and sister, got 24 inches! I haven't been out of the house since I got home Friday afternoon, except to shovel. Stay warm and safe!

I'm jealous. We're due for 8-12 inches here in Michigan later this week...I hope we get every inch of it!

I'd say you are "going out with a bang"! Guessing you won't be seeing this kind of snow in TX,so you are certainly getting a memorable February before your move:-)

So awful when you have to stay inside with a warm cuppa somethin' and some knitting project on your lap to keep you warm.
