But God!!!!

I've posted this plaque a few times, for various reasons, and every time I get questions about it - so this morning I dug through credit card receipts for the past two years, knowing I'd had it longer than that. Then I went through the warranty file (everyone has one, right?) and it wasn't there but I did, sadly, realize our dryer is 14 years old this Christmas. That's not good news, but it does confirm it'll be staying here when we move. Fourteen years worth of jeans and towels - good night, when we bought that our kids were 18, 13, and 11 - so that dryer has pretty much grown up with them.

Excuse me just a moment..."Dear Lord, please let our dryer last for another six months, at least."

I do remember the one before it died on December 28, right when everyone has an extra $400 sitting around, and my mother-in-law was visiting us and I was trying not to hyperventilate at the thought that we had to replace it, that day, and we had $400 like we had $4,000...

so it was a warm, fuzzy financial moment, but, alas no receipt for the 'But God'.

So I did what I always do when I can't find something. I email the one girlfriend I know who keeps receipts longer than me, and she'd seen my plaque how many years ago and ordered one. Sure enough, the back of hers still had the sticker on it, where mine had fallen off long ago, and all mine says is "made in Italy", charming but not helpful.

I love all things Texan, and you can buy it in White Oak, Texas, from Living Stones. Phone # is 903-986-3740, and website is right here: The Living Stones The one I bought is more of a rectangle and they don't seem to offer it anymore. What they do offer now is a 6 x 6 for $19 and that includes the stand. Order # is 600-001. The shipping is $12.00 but the plaques are heavy, they're made of stone, obviously. (And I put a sticker on the back of it, so next time I don't have to dig quite so long and hard.)

I ordered this one for our Texas home.

Had to have it for the front entry! I've dreamed of living on a lake since I saw "On Golden Pond" how many years ago, more for the setting than the family dynamics they had going on! If you're not quite done Christmas shopping, or want to buy a special housewarming or wedding gift, this company has so many wonderful Christian plaques, with quotes and verses. You're bound to find something just right.

Or you can go with "But God", which by the way I always thought of as - well, life is rough and there are these circumstances and it's never going to work out, they're never going to be healed, it's never going to change.....BUT GOD.... I guess it also applies if you tend to like to plead your case with God, and I've been known to do a time or two, much like when I was trying to renegotiate my curfew with my earthly Dad how many years ago...

Thanks for working to get the info; that plaque made an impression on me on your tour post. I will definitely be visiting that site.

I do love that plaque. Thanks for the info. Ah, On Golden Pond...sometimes I think that movie was made just so Jane and Henry could work out their differences before he died. I sort of feel like a voyeur watching it, but I love that movie. Well...all of it except for Katherine Hepburn's loon impressions. :)

Thanks for in the plaque info. I wish I was moving by a lake..........actually any body of water would be nice (well, maybe not a swamp) we live in the Nevada desert. Hey, when you do need to replace your dryer check out the Duet by Whirlpool. I love mine! I can dry the hugest load of towels in 35 minutes. Have a Great Christmas, and tell Sarah that her blogging sisters miss her and hope she is getting some rest. Blessings

Both plaques are beautiful. I'm so pleased that you found just the house you wanted - on a LAKE! It will be fun knowing you're here in Texas too. There is something about this place that just makes me feel like I've come home (more than any other place I've lived).
I like to think "But God..." when my path seems impossibly blocked. It gives such comfort.

Thanks for the info, Bev. I am impressed! Almost as much as I am that you have credit card receipts dating back 2 years!

I'm going to check out that site now.
