Creeping Cobbler

I'd make it just for the funny name. I've had this recipe for about 15 years, from the mom of one of Leslie's friends. I flipped through my recipe binder this morning and realized it's the same recipe my stepmom, Mary used. Anything Mary made tasted good, but she never promised it was good for you.

And seriously, who cares if cobbler is good for you for pete's sake? It just has to taste good.

This is going to taste fantastic tonight, after we've come home from a day spent in the sun doing lawnwork. Work hard.... shower ..... put on freshly laundered pjs .... consume cobbler and call it supper. That's my plan!

Cindy's Creeping Cobbler

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Melt one stick of margarine in a 9x13 glass pan in preheated oven. In bowl mix one cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 2 1/2 tsps baking powder. Add 1/2 cup of milk. Stir together and pour over melted margarine. Spoon one large can of *any fruit or pie topping on top of the mixture (if you use fruit, drain the juice first). Bake for 35 minutes. Crust will form over top.

Serve with a side of vanilla ice cream and enjoy the goodness of it. This is a great dessert to throw together when you have drop-in company. You can have this ready with very little notice.

*Any fruit will do just fine, we're having cherry tonight. For me personally, blackberry puts me right over the moon.

Lurve those plans and that recipe. Of course I'm partial to words like "sun" and "cobbler". We have buckets of blackberries come late August. And cherries in July. Sounds like I have summer dessert plans. :)

If I can find the bag of frozen fruit in the bottom of the freezer, I'm so making this tonight! I think it may even have some blackberries in it.

Enjoy your afternoon!

This sounds very much like the Bisquick cobbler we used to make, only we used Bisquick and milk in lieu of the other dry ingredients. It's yummy, and I'm like you, blackberry is the best!

I'd totally FORGOTTEN about this recipe, but it's the first thing the Boy ever made on his own! He was VERY proud. Yay! Thanks to you, I have it again!
