Grandparenting - It's A Wonderful Life!

At not quite three, Landon is turning into a big boy! A few days ago he came over to visit Papa and Grammy. Someday we're going to be amazed he ever fit inside this plastic toy bin!

He's not so crazy about having his photo taken lately either. Not that it stops me. Aunt Janae, be forewarned - this is what he does when he sees a camera pointed at him! Caiden, we need you to give him some lessons - you know to stand still and smile til everybody else is looking in the right direction and smiling too.

We've used this little gold 'thing' (not even sure what it really is) to hold snail mail that needs to be mailed. Landon decided early on that it made a dandy helmet, with the handle hooked under your chin. Today was my turn to wear the helmet, and while I'm at it, why not look through Uncle D's old binoculars?

Very attractive, don't you think? For grandkids I'm more than willing to play the fool (look like a big dork.)

Lunch on the deck. I let him choose the menu - spaghettios, peanut butter crackers, applesauce and a smattering of trix, served in the helmet. Not sure if it was used as a serving dish before or after being on my head! He just loves the silly thing, and I love him, so I oblige.

This? Well, this is the stuff grandparents live for! We had fun, we wore him out, and he went to sleep so I could return him to his parents rested instead of a grouchy bear. We have to do a good job so they'll let us have him again sometime soon!

In just about two weeks our oldest grandon, Caiden, will be 8 years old. Eight years we've been grandparents - four here and another one making her arrival the end of this year. You hear it all the time, 'if I'd known grandchildren were so much fun, I would have had them first.'

Thank you, God, for Caiden, Grayson, Addison, Landon and Jae. I had no idea, nor can I explain the wonderfulness they bring to our lives. And please, may we have some more?

What a great post. Landon sure is getting big. And Caiden 8 years old. I could not believe that. I am glad you have a new one to look forward to this year. Such fun!

The helmet looks quite fetching. With a knight that cute, I'd have worn it, too.

I love the pictures! It was such a sweet post! And Landon is going to have to get used to his "Aunt Janae" hunting him down for pictures---if we lived closer it might be different---but I doubt it;). And I love that you mentioned Jae---so sweet!
