Rescued / Redeemed

I love stopping by our local Goodwill, looking for good deals - clothing, housewares, whatever might be recycled and reused.

But this?

And at $2.00? Just knowing how many hours someone put into crocheting these sweet Granny Squares, and seeing the colors she chose - well I'm honored to be the one to rescue it. It's begging for someone to grab it and curl up for a Sunday afternoon nap.

I think she would be pleased, having the work of her hands redeemed, don't you?

What a find! It's beautiful!! And I love the idea of "redeeming" things ... or people ...or time ...

Since becoming pregnant with my 3rd baby (13 years after my last one!), Goodwill has become my new favorite store! It is amazing the bargains that you can find, most of which is in great condition!!

I love the idea of rescuing and giving new life to items that have already been used. It not only is a good use of our own personal resources, but of the earth's and most thrift stores provide a living to those sorting through our donated items. I think even Martha would say it's a good thing!

And Michelle - 13 years apart - you go girl! One of my dear friends has almost 20 years between her first and last and she swears that last 'baby' is such a blessing to her and her husband.

Oh yes Bev - she would. What an amazing find! It looks just like the one my Mom crocheted years ago and that hangs over the rocker.
I think it's time for a visit to Good will; I haven't been in a few weeks. Maybe something good snuck in!

It always hurts my heart to find hand made treasure at Goodwill or thrift stores, although I love the chance to snatch them up! So glad you are cherishing this treasure:-)

Oh, too bad football/napping with impunity is almost over. Hmm...guess you'll just have to use it for quiet times on the porch until next fall. :)

Great find! I'm sure someone worked hard on that quilt for a long time!
