Early in the Morning, on the First Day of the Week...

5:57 a.m. - eyes wide open. The clock is still quiet, set to go off in 1 hour and 3 minutes, and when it's 5:57 a.m., that's a big hour.

But I turn off the alarm, throw off the covers, my feet hit the floor. I hurry downstairs, hit the button on the coffee maker, grab the newspaper clipping off the counter and start to head outside.

Go back, check the temperature gauge in the kitchen window. It's a typical Easter morning in Pittsburgh - all of 29 degrees, so I pull on a hoodie then go outside. It's 6:00 a.m. sharp. Standing in the driveway with the clipping I begin to look up at the eastern / southeastern sky. Where's my point of reference?

Okay, there's the moon. And to the right, far up in the sky is JUPITER! Just like the article said, there it is, right where it's supposed to be. And then I turn my eyes to the left, and just above the horizon, VENUS.

And as a beautiful background, behind Venus, the sunrise. Or Sonrise. After all, this isn't just any morning. It's Easter morning and I'm standing on the deck, in my pajamas with a cup of coffee and a newspaper clipping, with a background of gobbling turkeys, and birds beginning their day with song, and ducks flying over the creek behind us, and hard frost on the ground. It's glorious!

As the sun continues to rise, filling the sky with it's light, the stars and planets begin to fade, and thirty minutes later they're completely out of sight. I've moved to the front yard now, and a van pulls up to the mailbox to drop off today's newspaper. Window rolled down, I hear a voice say, "Good morning".

And I answer back, "Good morning, Happy Easter."

Good morning indeed! Best morning I can remember in a long time. Thank you God for waking me up for early church, for inviting me to come to Sonrise Service.

That was beautiful, Bev. I felt like I was right there experiencing it all with you...instead of snuggled under my covers hearing the storm rage outside, which is what I was doing at 6:00 AM this morning.

Sonrise. I love that. Just love it, and this was almost (but not quite) as good as being right there with you. xoxoxo

Perfect morning! I must be somewhere near Renna, though--at 6 a.m. here, it was lightning and pouring and thundering down, and I was snuggled in my bed with the panting, terrified Scout next to my side (Not in the bed, of course!! But you already knew that.) But for me, a morning of thunderstorms is as happy as a morning of sun is to you! Soon you'll be in sunshine land with me, and we'll cheer for storms together!
