They're blooming finally, and I'm soaking up the smell, for one more summer.
They don't sell a bouquet of flowers that I enjoy as much as something cut from the yard and brought indoors to enjoy.

Lilacs are among my very favorite flowers. We used to have two humongo bushes in our backyard when we lived in Illinois and every spring I'd send a new bouquet to the kids' teachers every few days.
Nothing smells better. Lilacs smell better than any flower I can think of including roses. If you don't have lilacs in Texas, you should plant some. :-)
You should hurry and plant a lilac bush at your first opportunity at the new place.
My mom's family moved around a lot when she was growing up in Oklahoma in the 30's and 40's. She said each time they moved, if the new place didn't have one, my Nanny would plant a lilac bush by the back door. Many places did already have one in place.

Yum! I think I need a lilac

delicious. I wish they'd last just a trifle longer, though.
I love Texas, absolutely love it, but I do miss lilacs. I can almost smell them from here. thanks for sharing your lovely bouquet.
